MFAC Hockey

Hockey

Flinders Hockey named 2009 Champion Club

Teams

The College fields Girls and Boys Firsts teams in the State wide Schools Knock-out Competition and also enjoys hosting visiting touring teams.

Competitions

As there is no regular school hockey competition, the students are offered the opportunity to participate in the Sunshine Coast Hockey Association Competition on week-ends.   Junior (10-17 years) and Senior teams participate in the season which starts in March and ends in September. Fixtures are played close to the College at Ballinger Park, Buderim. The Primary School also offers hockey in SCISSA, and for the Prep to Year 3 students a developmental Minkey Hockey programme is run after school in Semester 2.

Training

Training sessions take place for juniors on Tuesday (J1 Boys and Girls) and Thursday (J2 and J3 Boys and Girls) at Ballinger Park. Senior training is Wednesday evening from 7.30-8.30pm.

Coaches

Mrs Wendy Cook is the Junior Coaching Co-ordinator and is well assisted by a number of experienced parents. The hockey programme has always encouraged our players to become involved in coaching, with many of our students gaining valuable skills and experience through coaching younger players.

Teacher in Charge

Mrs Wendy Cook is one of the College’s experienced Health and Physical Education teachers. She has been involved with the College Hockey Programme for over a decade and is proud of the reputation Flinders has in the Coast hockey community.   Wendy herself has played Hockey at the highest level, representing Australia, as well as coaching and managing at a high level. If you wish to know more about Hockey at MFAC please email her at wcook@mfac.edu.au
