Sometimes they’re bored, disengaged, and unmotivated. Other times they’re risky, unpredictable, and emotionally volatile. What is going on with developing students?
Flinders P&F is proud to present our first Flinders Speaker Series for 2025 - 'A Tour Through Your Child’s Brain: Development, Tech, and Learning' - presented by Jared Cooney Horvath (PhD, MEd), a neuroscientist, educator, and best-selling author.
In this session, Jared will explore the brain, how it develops across the lifespan, and consider how these changes drive learning and behaviour during school-aged years.
In addition, he'll take a look at several principles we can use to help support our students both at home and at school. Finally, we will take a quick look at the issue of digital technologies and consider what impact these tools are having on childhood learning (hint: they’re not great!).
Jared has conducted research and lectured at Harvard University, Harvard Medical School, the University of Melbourne, and over 1,000 schools internationally.
He has published 6 books, over 50 research articles, and his work has been featured in publications like The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Economist, HBR, and PBS’s NOVA.
Jared currently serves as the Director of LME Global, a company dedicated to bringing the latest brain and behavioral research to teachers and students.
This is a FREE EVENT for all parents and carers on the Sunshine Coast. Your RSVP is appreciated.
