Join us for the 2023 Flinders Art Exhibition, showing from Wednesday, 25 October to Thursday, 2 November (school days).
The exhibition is open from 8:00am to 4:30pm in the Flinders Performance Centre Upper and Lower Foyers at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Stringybark Road, Buderim.
This is the 29th year for the annual exhibition which showcases the diverse artworks created by students from Prep through to Year 12 at Flinders.
The works span a variety of approaches and materials from sketching, paintings, sculptures and printmaking to digital media and animation.
The Visual Art program at Flinders is an important part of the curriculum, with students and staff looking forward to the department being based in the new state-of-the-art Flinders Infinity Centre opening in 2024 as part of our Masterplan.
Art lessons are provided as core subjects in Primary School and as electives from Year 7 through to Year 12 in the Secondary School.
This year, through the Year to RISE program, the Year 9 students have shared themes through Fusion subjects with Art, Music and Industrial Design.
Artwork by Flinders Year 12 artist Tayla Fraser was chosen for the exhibition cover image.
Titled Happy Hour, Tayla's artwork is created as cast earthenware ceramics with glow-in-the-dark paint and paint pen.
The work explores the normalisation of drinking as an accepted part of Australian culture.
The Flinders Visual Art Department will host a private opening function at the exhibition for the Senior School Art students in Years 10 to 12 and their families on Wednesday, 25 October. The event is an opportunity to celebrate the students' creativity and development over the year.
