The Board Chair of Matthew Flinders Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast, Ms Peta Grenfell, has proudly accepted an award naming her local accounting and business advisory firm, Grenfell Murray, on the list of The Australian’s ‘Best Places to Work 2024’.
The esteemed award measures employee happiness and is named by The Australian newspaper in partnership with WorkL.
Directors Peta Grenfell and Brendon Murray said they were thrilled to be named in the group of 50 finalists from across the country.
Located in Minyama on the Sunshine Coast, Grenfell Murray was recognised for providing a work environment where its 25-strong team - 85 per cent who are women - felt “welcome, respected and have the opportunity to become the best version of themselves”.
College Principal Michelle Carroll congratulated Ms Grenfell and Mr Murray on their accolade.
“At Matthew Flinders Anglican College, we are fortunate to have a College Board of professionals and leaders in the community who are committed to excellence in their respective fields,” Ms Carroll said.
“Our nine Board members, including Peta Grenfell as Chair, each generously contribute their expertise, leadership and care to ensure Flinders continues to provide a future-focused and relevant education for our students and families, and a positive and innovative workplace for our staff.
“It is inspiring to see Grenfell Murray recognised with this award for their compassionate approach to supporting staff wellbeing while also making a positive impact in the wider community.”
Ms Grenfell said, “We genuinely care about each and every person on our team and do our best to go above and beyond for them, so it’s very special to be recognised for our approach.
“We also offer a workplace that is professionally challenging because we know that professional staff want to continue to grow their skills.
“What’s more, finance-based firms aren’t known for their soft skills, but we’ve made a concerted effort to engage with a number of worthwhile causes, including Matthew Flinders Anglican College, Lifeflight, Compass and the Kawana Chamber of Commerce.
“These partnerships enable our team to engage and contribute to the wider community while creating a sense of pride in where they work.”
The ‘Best Places to Work’ award list is judged on a proven methodology based on six key drivers of workplace engagement: Reward and Recognition; Information Sharing; Empowerment; Wellbeing; Instilling Pride; and Job Satisfaction.
