Sunshine Coast parents and carers are invited to a Flinders Speaker Series event on the ‘Future of Education’ featuring multi-award-winning educator and entrepreneur Nicole Dyson the Flinders Performance Centre from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Monday, 13 November 2023.
Matthew Flinders Anglican College launched the Flinders Speaker Series in 2018 to bring schools, families and the community together to learn how to support young people’s education, health and wellbeing.
The free event will be opened by College Principal Stuart Meade and is supported by the Flinders P&F.
'The Future of Education' with Nicole Dyson
Nicole Dyson is a global authority on project-based learning and youth entrepreneurship, and the founder of Future Anything, an award-winning education provider.
She passionately believes that youth-led ideas have the power to bend the future.
Nicole will share with the audience her insights on how we can support, equip and inspire our young people to make a meaningful impact in their communities and the wider world.
Her presentation will explore the importance of developing an enterprising mindset and building the essential skills and capabilities to confidently navigate an ever-evolving landscape.
Nicole has been working closely with students and staff in the Flinders Primary School this year to guide the younger generation in learning how to unlock their passion and potential.
In Term 3, Nicole stepped the Flinders Year 6 cohort through the high-energy, all-day Activate workshop on ‘how to design a social enterprise’, whether they want to help tackle problems, improve communities, protect the environment or support people in need with jobs or opportunities.
Nicole was listed in the inaugural ‘40 Under 40 Awards’ for Queensland in 2023 - a globally recognised program that celebrates the impact of the finest young Queensland leaders and entrepreneurs.
She also won the ‘Gamechanger Award’ which recognises a person who has “re-written the rules of business to challenge, inspire and spark significant change.”
Nicole was named in The Educator’s “Most Influential” list for 2023, acknowledging 45 educators significantly influencing culture and reform within Australia’s education sector, and was the recipient of SBE’s ‘Unsung Hero’ Award in 2022.
Parents, carers and staff from the College are invited, along with parents and carers from the Sunshine Coast community.

An experienced former school leader within the public education system in Australia, Nicole is the founder of Future Anything, an award-winning education provider that works with 15000+ young people (and their educators) each year; YouthX, Australia’s only startup accelerator program for school-aged entrepreneurs; and Catapult Cards, a design thinking toolkit for classrooms and corporates that donates 50% of its profits back to providing micro-grants for youth-led startups.
Future Anything was the winner of the Xero Outstanding Micro-Business Award at the 2021 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards and was listed as one of only 10 initiatives around the globe realising the employment and entrepreneurship ambitions of young people in the Prince’s Trust Group’s Report (2021) on The Future of Work.
Future Anything was also the winner in the 2023 Business Champion Awards for Outstanding Education Services.
