Parents considering a quality education for their Primary School-aged children are invited to join an online live streamed event hosted by Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Tuesday, 26 May from 5:30pm to 6:15pm.
Head of Primary Trudi Edwards said the annual event was usually held in person on the College campus, however, the restrictions on hosting events due to COVID-19 had motivated the College to go online.
“We already have more than 20 new families who have signed to join us for the online session with members of our Primary Leadership Team as well as some of our teachers,” Trudi said.
“School education is one of the most important choices parents will make for their child and parents don’t need to wait until restrictions are lifted on school campus tours to get their information,” she said.
“Junior Primary is a critical time for young children to build their early literacy and numeracy confidence, and social and emotional skills, so it’s their choice of education that parents are researching very carefully.
“Through this online session we will share how Flinders is committed to giving young children a strong start in life.
“Parents will learn how our staff are committed to excellence in teaching and learning and immersing our students in a values-rich, supportive and high aspiration environment.
“With a focus on personalised learning to ensure strong academic development, we are also deeply committed to enhancing our students’ learning dispositions.
“We want to encourage the development of positive, confident and skilled learners who develop the competencies required for the future.
“We believe that every child should be supported to realise their potential, and that’s why we encourage our students to explore their interests and embrace new opportunities.
“Our teachers at Flinders are incredibly committed and passionate about guiding children through this foundation stage of learning and making it fun, hands-on and robust.
“Our pastoral care focus is also very strong at Flinders as we believe that school should be as much about educating the heart, as it is the mind, and where the development of each student’s character is a priority.”
A video presentation will show a ‘day in the school life at Flinders’ to give parents a sense of what students experience each day.
The session will finish with a Q&A session with a guest panel including Flinders Head of Teaching and Learning, Mrs Debbie Planck and the Prep Year Level Co-ordinator, Prep teacher Mr Andrew Garrett.
