Get Your Tickets to Anastasia: The Musical - Opening This Week

Anastasia: The Musical launches this week at Matthew Flinders Anglican College in Buderim, with some families supporting more than one child in the cast and crew.

Showing from 23 to 25 February, the dazzling Secondary School production features 106 students, with a wonderful array of sibling couples and even a family of three!

Tickets are on sale now for three evening shows and a Saturday matinee at https://www.trybooking.com/CEBNP

The Flinders Director of Creative Arts, Mr Danny Parker said the fact so many families were involved was a wonderful testament to the power of the large production and the growing passion students at Flinders had for the creative arts.

Anastasia: The Musical is a huge undertaking and will give our audiences a wonderful experience at the theatre,” Danny said.

“The production involves 33 student cast members in key roles, 20 students in the ensemble, 10 students in the children’s chorus, six ballet dancers, 22 musicians in the Anastasia orchestra and 15 students as technical crew,” he said.

“And there are 16 of our staff on the creative team providing our students with expertise, guidance and support.

“One of the most important factors is that the more experienced students establish good practices and become role models for the younger students, whether they are family or not.”

Creative Ability Runs in the Family at Flinders

Lead actor Connor Keogh in Year 12 plays the role of Dmitry, while his brother Fynn in Year 6 is part of the Flinders Youth Theatre and successfully auditioned for the Anastasia children’s chorus.

There are also two pairs of siblings driving the technical crew backstage with the McBride siblings in the roles of Deputy Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager, and the Graham siblings on board as Head Follow Spot Operator and Mechanist.

On stage, siblings from the Walsh, Dawson, Wedgwood and Hurst families are singing and dancing up a storm, as are the Proudfoots who have three performers in their family!

The Farmers are another family pairing from our Flinders Youth Theatre and Senior School. And the McMahon sisters are also in the ballet scene.

Danny said, “We also pay tribute to the parents and carers of these students who must have been pulled in a range of directions as different children are required at different rehearsals. As if school life isn’t busy enough!”
