Matthew Flinders Anglican College is pleased to announce that Ken Mills Toyota on the Sunshine Coast is on board as the Gold Sponsor of the Flinders Electric Vehicle Project.
The electrical car conversion project is the first of its kind for schools in Australia. The project is challenging Senior School students at Flinders to upcycle an old diesel vehicle into an electric car of the future.
Through both a curriculum and co-curricular perspective, students are aiming to play their part in planning for environmentally sustainable transport options in the future.
Last week, College Principal Stuart Meade, students and staff met with Mr Brett Mills, Dealer Principal at Ken Mills Toyota. Stuart thanked Brett for recognising the project’s value to students’ learning and for supporting the project so generously.
The project team is made up of students from the College’s Innovation Club and staff, including Mr Mike King, Mr Ed Wright and Mr Austin Telford. The team has been focused on business and marketing of the electric vehicle project.
The students shared their draft business strategy with Brett Mills who provided invaluable real-life business perspective to help improve the plan.
The College is still calling for Silver and Bronze sponsors to support the project. Interested businesses can contact the College for more information via email community@mfac.edu.au.
