Year 10 Music

In this unit, you will examine the way in which music can be transformed to new styles and genres. You will examine how composers can manipulate music elements to create new versions of existing works and transform them into something new. There is a focus on the theme and variations form, exploiting instrument ranges and registers, motific development, and accompaniment patterns that support the transformation of music ideas within and between styles. You will also investigate how performance techniques change according to style, context and genre through their own performance work.
