Year 10 Religious & Values Education

In Religious and Values Education we endeavour to explore belief systems and values in society. Christian and students’ personal beliefs, world religions as well as values and ethics in society are considered. The study of world religions allows students to appreciate the complex and personal nature of these religions. Students learn about religion and learn from religion. Ideas and processes which shape an individual’s thoughts, actions and behaviours in God’s world are discussed.

Unit 2: Buddhism and Hinduism

The beliefs and practices of Buddhism and Hinduism in Australia and overseas
The way that one’s worldview changes over time

Unit 3: Islam

The beliefs and practices of Islam
The way that one’s worldview changes with a better understanding of different religions

Unit 4: Judaism

The underlying beliefs, values and historical influences that have shaped Judaism
The significance of the book of Exodus to the history of the Jewish people
