Parents considering quality early learning for their young children in 2020 and 2021 are invited along to a ‘Come and Play Day’ at Flinders Early Learning Centre (FELC) in leafy Buderim on Saturday, 25 May from 9:00am-10:00am.
FELC is designed for three- to six-year-olds and delivers play-based, nature-inspired creative Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs to 120 families in a beautiful rainforest setting.
Opened in February 2007, the highly respected Centre is part of leading Prep to Year 12 independent school, Matthew Flinders Anglican College, and is known for its commitment to reconnecting children to nature.
FELC Director Joanne Osborne said the Come and Play Day was an opportunity for parents to come along with their young children and consider FELC as the Centre is now calling for new enrolments for 2020 and 2021.
“We are very excited to welcome prospective families to FELC and have chosen a Saturday for this event because our centre is typically closed on the weekends,” Jo said.
“With a quiet space to explore, we hope babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers new to our space feel comfortable to play at their own pace and interest,” she said.
“Meanwhile, visiting parents will have the opportunity to ask questions of our wonderful team who have a range of qualifications from Masters degrees to diplomas, with all teachers having a minimum of a four-year early childhood education degree.
“Our current families choose FELC for many reasons, primarily because our passion for personalising the Reggio Emilia experience has driven our teaching team to create an environment that is inviting, fun, creative and, most importantly, child-centred.
“What’s more we have a beautiful space to share with light-filled classrooms, art studios, writing centres, discovery areas, reading books, interactive whiteboards and flexible learning spaces.
“We also have a thriving bush kindy program with specialist teachers who venture with small groups of 10 children into the neighbouring rainforest each week.
“FELC children also love to tend to the veggie gardens and feed the chickens, and have the opportunity to regularly visit the Flinders Farm, which is a short walk through Flinders’ College campus.
“We want new families to trust that their children will thrive in our caring community and will be nurtured every day by our dedicated and experienced teachers.
“Through planned and spontaneous play experiences, it’s wonderful to see children at FELC form relationships, share, co-operate, develop self-control, test ideas and friendships, extend their range of experience and form associations among things, events and concepts.”
