Are you in this photo or do you know any of these students of 1990?
Matthew Flinders Anglican College in Buderim is calling on the Sunshine Coast community to help connect with its founding students as the College celebrates its 30 years in 2020.
Principal Stuart Meade said the College will be hosting a special barbecue event in mid-March for its founding families, and wants to make contact with the 161 students who are pictured in the first whole-school photo.
The photo was taken at Matthew Flinders Anglican College in its 1990 founding year, and features 161 students from Years 5 to 8, as well as 19 staff.
The College has since grown over 30 years to be one of the Sunshine Coast’s top academic schools, supporting more than 1,450 students from Flinders Early Learning Centre to Year 12, and employing more than 280 staff members.
“This year we will be celebrating our 30 years as a College, which is an opportunity to thank and honour the visionary and community-minded people who have been instrumental in our foundation and growth,” Mr Meade said.
“While we are still in touch with many of our founding families who are proud Old Flinderians’ alumni, there are some early students whose contact details are no longer current.
“So, we are asking our local community, ‘If you know any of our first students - our Class of 1990 - featured in this photo, could you please encourage them to make contact with Matthew Flinders Anglican College.
“The special barbecue event that we have planned for mid-March this year with our founding families is an opportunity to come together and reminisce about our early days as a College, and to celebrate this special connection.”
