“All for one, and one for all!”
The famous battle cry of Alexandre Dumas’ Three Musketeers will reverberate across the streets of Buderim when more than 80 talented students of Matthew Flinders Anglican College present a modern, adapted version of this timeless piece, with an exhilarating music score performed live by the Flinders Symphony Orchestra.
The Flinders Dramatic Arts will present The Three Musketeers across four shows in the Flinders Performance Centre from Friday, 6 March to Saturday, 8 March, 2025.

Presented by Flinders Secondary students and members of the Flinders Youth Theatre, this action-packed tale is created to an old-school Hollywood movie vibe, with comedy, plot twists and sword fights galore.
The audience will be swept up in the swashbuckling score, played live by the 26 talented student musicians who make up the Flinders Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Head of Music, Dr Cade Bonar, with the Director Of Music, Mr Nick Campbell, on the piano.
This adaptation was created by Director of Dramatic Arts, Mr Andy Fraser, who brings vast experience working in the UK and across Australia, including for major arts companies the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, the Black Swan State Theatre Company and West Australian Opera.
In this version of The Three Musketeers, still set in 17th century France, the four central characters are women, rather than men. The piece is spoken with a modern dialect and, with women in the central roles, it explores whether the condition of women has changed much in the 400 years between then and now.
The timeless appeal of this story is based in its melodrama and comedy, and this adaptation is no different. Where it does find a unique voice is in the female characters of D’Artagnan, Athos, Porthos and Aramis.
The Three Musketeers is purposefully presented at Flinders during International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on Saturday, 8 March, with two of the four shows on this exact day: a matinee show at 1:00pm and an evening show at 7:00pm.
Mr Fraser says, “This adaptation provides diverse opportunities for our students here at Flinders to challenge themselves, whether they are on stage, backstage in our technical crew or playing in our orchestra, and they should be rightfully proud of their commitment, creativity and efforts.
“The students have been an absolute joy to work with, and it’s been heartening to see them bond as an ensemble and grow their skills and confidence individually.
“They've learned the power of persistence, remaining committed to our rehearsal schedule since Term 4 of 2024 and throughout the summer holidays.”

Celebrating Flinders' 35th Birthday in 2025
College Principal Michelle Carroll encouraged the Flinders community to bring family and friends to The Three Musketeers, a timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and courage.
“This year, we celebrate our College’s 35th year birthday, and this production is a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate our Flinders spirit,” Ms Carroll said.
“I invite our College community to come together and revel in the talent and exuberance of our students as they share their passion for theatre, dance and music,” she said.
“A stage show is so much more than just a performance—it is a journey, where every cast and crew member plays an essential role in creating something greater than themselves.
“We are grateful to our dedicated team of directors, musicians, teachers and parent volunteers for their guidance, encouragement and generosity in bringing this production to life.
“Our students have flourished under their support.”
The student actors have had formal ballroom dancing workshops with Georgia Topp along with Stage Combat training from Mr Fraser in preparation for learning the fight choreography which was set by Fight Director, Nastassja Norwood.
The student technical crew are all part of the College’s Tech Club, a co-curricular offering that guides students in learning how to operate lighting, sound, costuming and set design to support a successful staged production.
The Tech Club is guided by Flinders Technical Co-ordinator, Mr Brendon West, who has vast experience working on major productions across the globe, including the opening and closing ceremonies for the Summer and Winter Olympic Games multiple times since Sydney 2000.
