A decision which can consume parents of young children for many years is 'Which school for my child in Year 7 and beyond?'
To help make the secondary schooling research process smoother, Matthew Flinders Anglican College is hosting a Year 7 in 2023 Information Evening on Tuesday, 22 February, 2022.
The event is a chance for new families who are considering a Flinders education for their child from Year 7 to learn how students flourish through the College's Middle School philosophy, which is collaborative, outcome-based and centred on the learner.
At Flinders, Year 7 marks the beginning of Secondary School and also of the Middle School journey from Years 7 to 9.
Speakers include Head of Middle School, Mrs Anita Gibson who will shine a light on the innovative and nurturing Middle School curriculum and co-curricular programs which are tailored to adolescents of this age group as they have the need for purpose, empowerment, independence and success.
Families will also learn about the state-of-the-art Year 7 Precinct, which opened in August 2019 as part of the Flinders Masterplan's suite of new agile and aspirational learning facilities.
The Precinct is a special place for Year 7 students at Flinders to learn and gather across two-storeys, giving them a dedicated space to grow as a cohort and develop a sense of belonging, confidence and connectedness as they transition into the Secondary School.
There is also news to share about the new Flinders Design Centre which will open in 2024 as an exciting space for students to learn, make, design, test, exhibit and curate.
The Year 7 in 2023 Information Evening event will be held at the Flinders Performance Centre from 6:30pm. Please book via this link. If you are already registered for Year 7 in 2023, there is no need to book for this event through the website form.
