Year 1 Studies the Importance of Bees at the Flinders Farm

The Flinders Farm was a hive of activity this morning, with the Year 1 students dropping by to learn all about...bees!

As part of their visit, students met with Flinders Farm Manager, Mr Jeff MacLennan to talk about the importance of bees and ways to protect them in their natural environment.

Students have been studying bees in their I-Care unit, investigating their role in the ecosystem and the process of pollination.

I-care is a signature program in the Junior Primary School, which empowers students to use design thinking to empathise, ideate and prototype innovative solutions to cultural, social and environmental issues.

Richly integrated emerging technologies assist in supporting a spirit of entrepreneurialism and social justice so that students can make a positive impact in the world.

It is exciting to see students taking their learning from the classroom and applying it to real-world contexts.

The Flinders curriculum enables students to use their knowledge and skills to think more critically, creatively and confidently across a range of topics and subjects.
