You're Invited to Take a Tour Through Your Child's Brain

Kicking off our first Flinders Speaker Series for 2025 is Dr Jared Cooney Horvath (PhD, MEd), a world-renowned neuroscientist, educator and best-selling author.

Jared will present to our parents and also parents from the wider Sunshine Coast community in the Flinders Performance Centre on Wednesday, 2 April from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Our Flinders P&F is proud to present Jared's presentation of 'A Tour Through Your Child’s Brain: Development, Tech and Learning'.

Jared will tackle an age-old question: What is going on with developing students? Sometimes they’re bored, disengaged and unmotivated. Other times they’re risky, unpredictable and emotionally volatile...

This is a FREE EVENT for all parents and carers on the Sunshine Coast. Your RSVP is appreciated. Please note, this event is not for children to attend.

Jared has visited Flinders to share his insights with our parents and staff in previous years, and is headlining our College's national 2025 Science of Learning conference from 3-4 April, which is now sold out and will host more than 450 delegates from across Australia, including our staff.

In this Flinders Speaker Series session, Jared will:

- explore the brain and explain how it develops across the lifespan
- consider how these changes drive learning and behaviour during the school-aged years
- look at the several principles we can use to help support our students — at home and at school
- tackle the issue of digital technologies
- consider what impact digital tools are having on childhood learning (hint: they’re not great!).
